Reviews
We have seen the performance “Mesmerized: A Ben Franklin Science & History Mystery”. It was wonderful! We highly recommend. All actors were amazing, and the staging was brilliant. 2 thumbs up!
We've visited The CCT when it was further north in the city and enjoyed each and every single play that we've seen. We've also experienced their BOING Fest and enjoyed seeing our children engage their creative sides in a way that we aren't able to always do in our home. Mostly because of the clean up!
I highly suggest taking your family to see one of their productions as they take great care in them. You won't regret it.
We took our munchkin to see The Very Hungry Caterpillar during our trip pre-covid and it was am absolutely wonderful experience hence the 5 star rating. It was a magical experience. Our toddler was in awe the entire time. Even the adults were engaged. The kids even had an opportunity to engage with the characters afterwards and play with other children. It was a great experience. Definitely a place to visit especially if you have small children.
We saw the Very Hungry Caterpillar show and it was an excellent performance. It was advertised to say hi to the cast and puppets after the show. My daughter immediately used the bathroom once the show ended. When we were done, the cast was gone. The cast was only out in the lobby for maybe 5 minutes. I would have appreciated it if they stayed around a bit longer. Other than that, highly recommend.
I chaperoned a field trip to see Carmela Full of Wishes and the show was a delight. The space is intimate yet exactly the size needed to keep the kiddos engaged. The cast of actors were only 4 deep, but each performed their role (or roles!) beautifully. The story was sweet and every kid I spoke to (an adult) enjoyed themselves.
To the non-show related portion of this review, the theater had a lot going for it.
Before it began, there was a sort of waiting area, filled with tables and chairs where the kids could chill out and relax. There was also a smaller niche carved out with some benches as well as duplo bricks for the kids to enjoy.
The seating inside had more of these benches as well as armed chairs so the adults can be off to the sides or sit with more back support.
For me, however, the bench was the way to go. The arms on the chairs did not look the most welcoming cause I'm a bit larger. The benches were not the standard flat planks but more of a wave. Lower wave in the front, middle dip, taller wave in the back. I had to sort of cross my legs to account for the benches being sized for wee ones, but I was surprisingly comfortable the whole show.
Great little theater that easily held our classes and a class from another school. Great show. Would heartily recommend, and hopefully you can enjoy Carmela before the show leaves the theater.
COVID changes a lot, but CCT makes sure our kids can still enjoy a "hybrid" live theatre experience. Not crazy about being outside in this parking lot venue, but loved the option of being warm in the car.
But the unavoidable aside, the sets, music, costumes, puppets and audience participation for Bea-Trix and Treats were creative, beautiful and memorable. Biggest endorsement of all: our 2- and 4-year olds were mesmerized for all 70 minutes of the show.
We went to the Beatrix Potter Holiday Tea Party and it was really cute! I wasn't sure how my 3 year old would sit for a play but it was engaging and all the little kids there seemed to really enjoy it! I can't wait to bring her back for the next one.
Great show! We saw the very hungry caterpillar and loved it! Theater was nice and small. Great for kiddos.
